Hi. I’m Ed Placencia*.
I started Comedy Reviews a few years ago when I was looking to buy some comedy and, upon doing a little research, found reviews of comedy albums/CDs/whatever they’re called now few and far between.
Since that momentous November in 2010 I’ve listened to a good amount of comedy and I still enjoy doing what I do.
I love comedy. I grew up listening to Bill Cosby and Steve Martin with my dad (and secretly listening to Eddie Murphy and Robin Williams in my room with the volume turned down super-low) and the more I listened, the more I wanted to hear. We grew up without cable so I always felt I was missing a lot (If I think about it, I can still feel the ache in my heart when I learned of «The Comedy Channel» and hated that access to all of those comedians was so close…and yet so far). As soon as I moved out of the house, I got plugged in and tried to catch up on as much as I could.
From that point it’s been whatever-I-can-do to get my hands on it. I don’t claim to be the best writer in the world but I’ll do my best to be honest about the projects to which I listen. When I like something, I like it and when I don’t…well…I’ll try to be as diplomatic as possible. I do my best to keep in mind that regardless of what I think (and my opinion is just that: my opinon) a lot of hard work went into each project. I can’t always write reviews as often as I’d like (believe it or not, I’m not one of those bloggers whose sole income is derived from blogging) and real life sometimes takes me away from the keyboard, but I’ll always be back.
I appreciate you stopping by. If you do want to buy some comedy and support the page a bit, stop by the Comedy Reviews Amazon store. There you’ll find pretty much everything I’ve reviewed and I keep it updated as each new review goes up. There’s a Facebook pageand a Twitter feed that’ll keep you abreast (heehee) of the goings-on here. I hope you find something you like. I know I have.
